 could have been better...
« Thread Started on Feb 18, 2005, 8:49pm »

just finished reading issue #6, i just want to say a few things about the new mini series, the artwork as always was great, probably one of robs best, i was just a little bit dissapointed with the story telling, i felt that the whole 6 issues were rushed and a lot of the "story" was just narrated and not drawn by rob, for example the 2hr battle scene on the start of #6, it would have been nice to see a few pages of art with everyone battling the scorn instead of a 2 page spread telling us that they have been fighting for a long time already, in the whole 6part series i never even saw warpath in a fighting pose, even the others like sunspot and some. i think the series could have been better had it been an 8 part or better yet 10 part mini ;)

I loved the art myself. But I agree, issue 6 was like 3 issues packed into one. It could have really been drawn out more.

I agree w/ both of you on the issue. Who'd of thought we'd get a Marvel comic these days that is filled with too much action? Most of their books these days draw out storylines just to fill a trade paperback. Look at Ellis's Iron Man #2. The whole issue is people sitting around a table talking without one panel of Iron Man. In my opinion, as much as I love Liefeld's X-Force, Rob should forget about Marvel and get back to Arcade or maybe a DC book if he was offered it!

I cant wait to see what his next project is. Mainly I want to get the rest of Bloodsport, but It will be cool to see if he does any other Marvel or DC stuff.

Now that Rob has proved that he can deliver six issues in six months, I think he should get on with the job on YB Bloodsport.

As I understand it, #2 is finished, so he just has to draw one more issue. Then he could have it all out there, and get on with producing the coffee table book version that he spoke about in the Newsarama interview that announced this whole thing - way back in 2001 :o

As for X-Force, I only bought this for Rob's art. I know nothing about the characters ... Overall, I thought the story was very poor and uninteligible ... it was a real mish mash that made no sense and followed no plot what-so-ever ...

But the art was F&%#ING UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Really Jason? I have never read any X-Force issues in my life till these last 6 issues came out. It was the first time I have read any. I understood it just fine. Yes maybe the last 2 issues could have been maybe 4 or 5 issues, but oh well. Yes you are right, the art in it was the best yet by Rob. I love it.

As for Bloodsport, I really hope it is out soon. Rob has said it should be out for WW LA this year. But we will see, I wont beleive it till I see it. But overall I think it is the best idea Rob has ever came up with.

Hello, I am new to the site. I've been out of comics for about 8 years or so and I was hoping I could get an honest opinion about this new X-Force. I really liked the original X-Force of the early 90's and it left a great impression on me. Should I consider getting this new revision of it or should I avoid it so that I don't tarnish my fond memories?

No you really need to get it. Robs art in it is the best yet. The story is pretty cool too. Really, you have to get it.

Yeah, I do like his artwork, despite the many criticisms he has gotten over the years about the inconsistencies in his style. But is the story worth reading? Supposedly a graphic novel combining all 6 issues will be out this month and I was anticipating buying that. If it is as good as the original X-Force I'll definitely have to read it.

I just picked up the book released containing all 6 issues of the X-Force: Legend Returns. I really liked Rob Liefeld's artwork (despite a couple anatomical errors) and the fact that so many characters were involved in the storyline. However, I also thought the story seemed a bit rushed and too much was squeezed into just 6 measly issues. He could have spent time showing Cable finding Sunspot, Meltdown, and Warpath (instead of them mysteriously appearing in Issue 2). Or spent time detailing the TWO hour battle against the Skorne, and the loads of characters affected. Never got to see ANY of the MLF guys fighting. So much more could have been done to extend this.

That is the only thing I didnt like too. There could have been an extra 6 issues to this easy. Issue 6 could have been 3 issues alone. But overall I was very pleased.
